Santa Maria Endler Cross Yellow Cobra Guppy
For this Guppy/Endler test hybrid breeding project, we picked a male Santa Maria Endler and isolated a young female Yellow Cobra Guppy at four weeks of age to ensure she was a virgin. We introduced the male and female three months later to evaluate the results of hybridising these guppy and Endler strains. Below are photos samples of males from both strains.
F1 Santa Maria Endler Cross Yellow Cobra Guppy
Below are some of the F1 results from the cross.
Observations from the cross
The results of this crossbreed were pretty interesting as the overwhelming majority of the males exhibited strong traits from the Santa Maria line with little influence from the Yellow Cobra gene except for a yellow tinge on the chest running from the chest to the head. A few of the males Santa Maria types also display some cobra patterning on the dorsal fin.
